Arts & Rhythm Ballroom Dance Studio is the premier ballroom dance studio in the New Orleans area. It is owned by Irene Martin Torres, who has been involved in ballroom dancing, instruction and competitions for over 30 years.
We offer many different classes during the week by
appointment. Styles include cha-cha, waltz, rumb
a, bolero, polka, merengue, samba, salsa, Viennese waltz, hustle, foxtrot, tango, east and west coast swing and mambo. Our new studio features beautiful wood floors in a mirrored, well-lit ballroom with a professional sound system to give you the best ambiance while learning. We pride ourselves in our ability to make everyone comfortable in our welcoming and friendly dance atmosphere.
Our dance instructors have found the best way to train both new and experienced dancers is with what we call our Three-Way System Of Teaching which consists of a combination of private lessons (one-on-one lessons between the instructor and student), class lessons (knowledge of basic steps in a multiple person group class) and practice parties (organized with a party atmosphere, the student dances the steps learned to become a good social dancer).
After some time, a student may wish to participate further with our many other programs; yearly Dance Camps hosted by DVIDA, showcases, competitions, or our Out On The Town Hobbyist Club just to name a few.
Arts & Rhythm proudly endorses the Dance Vision International Dance Association's (DVIDA) curriculum. Occupying volumes and covering the full range of american, International, Latin American, Country & Western, Competitive, Theatrical and Exhibition dancing, the DVIDA system has the most fully documented and up to date dance knowledge available in the world. This curriculum is the subject of daily study by our dance directors and teachers.
